A quiet week just gone – but a busy week ahead

This last week has been much quieter than normal with no league matches over the weekend – although I think Ryan Spivey did some combined eventing at Woodford. I’ll bring results when I know more. However the very strong wind on Thursday evening came as a nasty surprise and we had to cancel the training session for the junior athletes. A few brave older athletes did their best to train but the arrival of the rain made everything even more uncomfortable. Those athletes who did train did most of their work with the wind behind them and they would probably have recorded all sorts of wonderful times for their sprints. However it was harder work for Vicki Pellett and Eddie Vermeer who tried throwing the discus into the gale.

However this coming week is much busier, especially for those athletes at school. On Thursday evening our youngest athletes have their first Sussex Under 13 league match of the summer at K2, and 3 days later on Sunday the senior ladies and mens team also compete at K2 in their second league match of the season. K2 will be very busy this week as in addition to the above matches there will be English Schools Cup matches there on Tuesday and Wednesday. And on Thursday and Friday there will be trials for those athletes hoping to represent their area in the Sussex and Surrey Schools County Championships in June – I think the Mid Sussex trials on Friday are probably at Horsham ??

A busy week ahead indeed.
