Getting ready for the last few weeks of the summer season

Not a lot to tell you about as we’ve had another quiet week, although many of the athletes who are going to compete in the Sussex Combined Events Championships are now working hard on at least 2 events on each training evening.

Looking ahead things get rather more active as we approach the last few weeks of the summer season and over the next week we have some local Open Meetings. We start with one at Tonbridge School tomorrow (August 25th) on Bank Holiday Monday – first events are at 10am. Then on Wednesday evening (August 27th) you can take a trip to the seaside for an Open Meeting at Brighton before ending the week at the Horsham Open next Sunday (August 31st) with a mid-day start.

Next weekend also sees the All England Under 15 and Under 17 championships at Bedford with events on both Saturday and Sunday – I think we have Abby Beswick, Tom Dean and Vicki Pellett in action and we wish them all well against the best athletes in the country. Also over next weekend Ryan Spivey will be on international duty for England when he does the under 20 decathlon against Wales, Scotland and Ireland. This event will be held in Manchester and we also wish him well.

Next weekend is also the latest date for entering the Combined Events Championships at the cheaper rate. You can enter after next weekend but it’ll cost you more !
