Cross-Country league results

We had 13 athletes taking part in the Sussex Cross-Country league match at Plumpton last Saturday – the most we’ve had for a number of years. And the best performance came from our youngest athlete. There was a race for under 11 athletes with a total of about 90 boys and girls running together. The first girl to finish was Maddy Sims (who you will remember won our primary schools race in October) with Cameron Neal-McInnes not too far behind. We had 2 under 13 girls running – Maddy’s sister Izzy and Antonia Deeley – and they finished more or less together.

Henry Aronson did well to finish in the top half of the boys under 15 race in 20th place while Naomi Insole was 19th in the girls under 15 race. Ewan Dallas came 12th out of 26 finishers in the boys under 17 race with Liam Rieley not far behind in 21st.

Our senior men had only 2 runners – Tim Ivorson and Graham Taylor – and they finished in their usual places somewhere near the end. The under 20 and senior ladies race saw 3 of our athletes in the field of over 100. Catherine Milton-Thompson, Izzy Turnbull and Gemma Hayes all got round in the bottom half of the finishers but earned good points in the team race.

Very well done to all of our athletes who took part. The next match isn’t that far away – in less than 2 weeks on Saturday December 6th at Lancing and it would be great to see a few more athletes taking part. Tim Ivorson will be contacting you all – but if you’d like to run please get in touch with him.

Sunday morning’s training at East Court took place in the worst weather of this winter season with heavy rain. Nevertheless we had 8 athletes training – including 2 who had run at Plumpton the day before – and we did a short sharp session on East Grinstead Town football club’s new car-park.

Meanwhile we look forward to another week’s training at the usual places and the usual times.
