Has Summer finally arrived ?

Under 13/15 match at Hastings on Saturday

For the first time this year we had warm sunny weather – proper Summer weather in fact – and the athletes all seemed to relish it (except perhaps those running in the 1500 metres races). We haven’t got the final results as yet but I’m hoping that the sprinters and jumpers in particular will see a number of pbs.

One performance that did catch my eye was Erin Harnett’s 300 metres run where we think she broke Chloe Hollamby’s under 15 club record. But I’ll bring more news when I see the results.

A very busy few days coming up

Last Tuesday’s heavy rain saw the postponement of our under 11/13 club championships. We will now hold the events that were due to take place then on this coming Tuesday July 19 at Sackville.

Then on Thursday July 21 we have an under 13 league match at Horsham, followed a day later on Friday July 22 by an under 15 match, again at Horsham.

And to end a busy week we have an under 17 and under 20 match on Sunday July 24 at Croydon. This will be Abby Beswick’s last appearance in this league – she will be too old to compete next year.

Training this Thursday July 21

Because most of our coaches will be at the under 13 match on Thursday evening – either managing the team or doing the necessary field event judging – there will be no coaches available for training on Thursday.

What’s happening over the next week ?

Tuesday July 19 – under 11/13 club championships at Sackville following postponement last week. Older athletes will be able to train at the same time.

Thursday July 21 – under 13 match at Horsham.

Thursday July 21 – no coaches available for training.

Friday July 22  – under 15 match at Horsham.

Sunday July 24 – under 17 and under 20 match at Croydon SE25 4QL.
