Goodwood Cross Country news (updated with results)

Sussex Cross Country league

We had 3 athletes competing at last Saturday’s Sussex Cross Country league at Goodwood, with a number of others not available for a number of reasons. For the first time that I can remember we had an athlete winning a race.

No real surprise that it was Ethan Scott who was first when he ran away with the under 13 boys race, coming home in just over 11 minutes and some 30 seconds ahead of the second placed athlete. Cameron Wells ran in the same race and came home in 33rd position, about half-way down the field – a couple of minutes behind Ethan.

Josh Scott (Ethan’s brother) ran in the under 11 race – boys and girls running together – and was 19th out of the 47 finishers. He would have been one of the youngest runners in this race.

Well done to all 3 athletes. The next match in the Cross Country league is on Saturday November 12 at Lancing Manor and we hope that a number of those athletes who couldn’t make it on Saturday will be there.

A reminder that our autumn/winter training sessions have started and are getting into their stride

We’ve had a couple of weeks in our autumn training sessions and things are settling down – especially with the new structure that we have introduced in our Thursday evening sessions. If you haven’t started your training yet then hurry along before it’s too late to make up any lost ground.

A reminder of our sessions:

Sunday mornings at East Court from 10.30 to 11.45. Training is available to all members. It is not simply for distance runners as the hills make excellent work for the sprinters and jumpers.

Tuesday evenings in Imberhorne Upper School GYM from 7.30 to 8.30. Circuits sessions – by invitation only.

Thursday evenings at Imberhorne Upper School. Training for all from 7 to 8.30. All age groups train at the same time. The distance running group is this week going to meet outside The Meads School at 7.10.

What’s happening in the next week ?

Tuesday 18 October – circuits session at Imberhorne gym from 7.30 to 8.30 for invited athletes.

Thursday 20 October – autumn/winter training session at Imberhorne from 7 to 8.30 for all age-groups. Distance runners meet outside The Meads School by 7.10.

Sunday 23 October – Sunday morning session at East Court from 10.30 to 11.45. Training suitable for all ages and all events.
