News from Kingston and from Denmark

3 athletes at Kingston

We had 3 athletes at the under 13 inter-county match at Kingston on Saturday. Ethan Scott was running for Surrey in the 1500 metres against some of the fastest runners in the UK. He was just a fraction outside his pb and did well to finish third.

Miah Blackburn ran in the non-scoring 800 metres for Sussex and continued her recent run of very impressive performances with second place in her race – beating her previous pb by 6 seconds. Maddie Sims – also competing for Sussex – however had a disappointing afternoon and was rather below her best in both her 800 metres and her high jump – not helped by the fact that they took place at more or less the same time.

European Masters Championships in Denmark

A couple of our slightly older athletes have recently taken part in the European Masters Champions at Aarhus in Denmark. Lincoln Campbell in the 100 metres and Phil Spivey in the 11.34k weight competition. Phil followed up his gold medals at last year’s world championships by winning another gold. Not sure if he will be doing the hammer throw later this week.
