Senior team at Erith on Saturday
On a very hot sunny afternoon at Erith our senior team did very well to come second in the match at Erith – behind Cambridge who are second in the league but ahead of Herne Hill who are third. Lots of athletes doing more than their fair share to gain those points – perhaps especially Wayne Gadd who spent most of the afternoon jumping and throwing. The men were a bit short of athletes but the ladies had a good number of athletes at the match. It was sad to see Emmie van Lieshout’s foot injury re-occuring which means the season has ended for her.
Having said all this there are still a number of our athletes – and male athletes rather than female – who don’t compete as much as they should and who ignore e-mails from team managers asking them if they are available to compete.
The last match of the season is a few weeks away on Saturday August 18.
Meanwhile at Birmingham in the English Schools Championships Cameron Wells was a little below his best in the junior boys pole vault with a clearance of 2.85 metres.
