A catch-up with last Sunday’s match

Last Sunday’s match at Dartford

I didn’t have the full results from last Sunday’s wet and windy match at Dartford when I wrote my piece last week – and I’ve been away for much of the week – so here are a few more details. In particular Rebekah Tyler continued her excellent season – although the wind was in the wrong place as she continues to try to get her 100 metres under 13 seconds. But a couple of pbs in the shot (10.40 metres) and discus (25 metres plus) for her. The girl who beat her in the shot had won the shot for under 17 girls in the English Schools Championships in July.

Jack Sanders in the shot and Katie Wheeler in most of her events have been making steady improvements all season and did so again – Katie in the 300 metres.

Forthcoming training sessions

A reminder that we will continue training on both Tuesday and Thursday evenings through the school summer holidays. We will take a break in the second half of September but for the next few weeks we will be training.

Matches coming up

We have a couple of weeks without any matches before the senior team compete on Saturday August 18.

Looking rather further ahead the Sussex Combined Events championships take place over the weekend of September 8 and 9. We will do our best to give time to those athletes who will compete in these championships, especially in some of the events they are less used to. We will soon talk to athletes who we think should do these combined events championships, but if you would like to know more then talk to one of the coaches.

What’s happening over the coming week ?

Monday August 6 – not sure if there is any circuit training at Imberhorne Upper School from 6.30 to 7.30 ?

Tuesday August 7 – training for all at Sackville School from 7 to 8.15.

Thursday August 9 – training at Imberhorne from 7 to 8. Extra training available from 8 to 8.45.

Saturday August 11 – Academy training has now stopped. There will be sessions in September at East Court to prepare those of our athletes who will be doing the schools cross-country races on October 14.
