News of some recent events

Josh Hobbs has found himself getting very muddy over the last couple of weeks. Last week he took part in the South of England cross-country championships at a very very muddy Parliament Hill in North London (where incidentally we have our first senior track and field meeting of the summer season – though the summer match will take place on the adjoining track, and not on the cross-country course !). Josh did well to come half-way down the field.

Then over this last weekend Josh was selected to run for Sussex Schools in an inter-county cross-country match in Chelmsford. He did well to come in the top 70 runners.

In contrast to the mud and wet Cameron Wells kept nice and dry and warm in a couple of indoor events. Cameron came second last week in the London Under 17 games held at Lee Valley with a clearance of 3.91 metres. Then this last weekend he went up to Manchester where he again cleared 3.91 metres. These are his best indoor performances and his best outdoors performance is 3.95 metres in the summer of 2019. Let’s hope for 4 metres before too long.

Sussex Indoor Championships – February 15 and 16

These championships take place over the weekend of February 15 and 16 at Sutton. Entries have to be made by midnight on Thursday February 6 – so there’s not much time to enter.
