Back on a track

Back to the schools for training sessions

We went back to the schools for last week’s sessions, and the ability to use tracks, sand pits and throwing implements went down well – as of course we were expecting.

So we look forward to seeing a few more of you perhaps to this week’s training sessions at Sackville School on Tuesday evening from 6.30 to 7.30 and at Imberhorne Upper School on Thursday evening from 7 to 8.

And this week will also see the start of our Academy sessions for those in school years 4 and 5. These sessions take place at Imberhorne Upper School on Saturday mornings with the first session on SATURDAY MAY 1. We start at 11 am and finish one hour later. I believe there are still one or two places available.

which will be good news for our jumpers and throwers who haven’t been able to jump or throw as yet, though they’ll have to wait until Thursday’s session before they are able to have a go..

Annual membership fees are now due

A reminder that your fees are now due and we would ask that they be paid by the end of April at the latest.

And while we’re talking about money a reminder that this is the last week of free Tuesday and Thursday sessions. Starting in the following week training sessions will cost £2 for each session.

Sussex Festival of Athletics Saturday 8 May at K2

The Sussex County Athletic Association is holding a meeting in May at Crawley’s K2 track and time is running out for you to enter. It is open to all Sussex athletes – whether you were born in Sussex, have lived in Sussex, go to school in Sussex or whose club is in Sussex. As we are a Sussex club all of our club members are eligible to enter even if you live, for example, in Surrey or Kent.

You have to enter in advance and more information can be found on the Sussex AAA website. We hope that many of you will take the opportunity to take part, especially those of you who were not able to compete in 2020. (Please note that you will have to pay your club membership fee in order to compete.)

All age groups from under 13s (school years 6 and 7) upwards can take part, although there is a limited number of events for the under 13s to enter.
