A very wet day in Brighton (updated with performances from the match)

News from match at Brighton

We had 7 athletes taking part in last Sunday’s match at Brighton as part of the Team Sussex squad along with athletes from Lewes and Eastbourne. Good to see Lottie Clarke in the 200 metres and a leg of the 4 x 100 relay in her first match for us. The only other of our athletes not to throw something was Abigail O’Shaughnessy – she kept busy with pbs in the 100 metres and long jump, as well as running a leg of that 4 x 100 relay.

Of particular note among the throwers with 3 first places and 3 pbs was under 20 Mattie Fish – 10.22 in the shot, 32.43 in the discus and 35.59 in the javelin. And in the only remaining throw – the hammer – under 17 Oscar Staples produced another first place and pb with 24.76 metres.

The 3 lady throwers – Ella Kessell, Lucy Rogers and Chloe Grantham – covered all 4 throws between them and produced a number of good placing and goodish throws, although pbs were not quite as common as with the boys. Chloe managed an 800 metre run as well and at the end of the day joined with Lottie and Abigail in that 4 x 100 relay.
