Last week at K2

Just a short catch up from last week at K2 on what was at times a rather wet afternoon – well I certainly got wet in 2 of the 4 long jump sessions I helped to judge. One of the jumpers was our own Chloe Wibrew who produced a couple of pbs during the afternoon – one in the long jump and one in the 100 metres. Ollie Strange ran well in his 100 metres and later in the 300 – both times just outside his pb. Arran Kerr in his 800 metres ran just a touch faster than he had at that hot afternoon at Tonbridge a couple of weeks ago. And Wilbur Skipp undertook the 3000 metres for the first time – a good sensible run which will give him a target for his next race over that distance.

Match this coming Saturday August 14 at K2

Our older senior athletes plus under 17s and under 20s have what I believe is their last match of the season this coming Saturday August 14 at K2, with first events at midday. We are unfortunately missing a number of athletes who are on holiday – and one or two who are injured. We are also the hosts for this match and could do with help on the day. If you can get to K2 to help at about 11.00 that would be great.

Training last week

Thursday turned out to be a rather unpleasant and wet evening at Sackville and our sessions were shorter than normal. It did mean a reduction in numbers, and was especially disappointing for our older under 11s. Those moving into school year 6 in September had been invited to our training session on Thursday to sample the sort of sessions they will take part in over the coming autumn and winter – but the weather inevitably reduced the numbers coming.

Committee meeting this week on Tuesday August 10 after training

We will have a committee meeting this coming Tuesday evening from 8pm at the home of Phil Rogers.
